Gum Disease & Pregnancy
Hi, I’m Dr. Trym Gibbons, today we are going to talk about being pregnant – even though I am not – and having inflamed gums and what causes it. During your pregnancy you have an increase in hormones such as estrogen and it causes the gums to be a little bit more sensitive to the plaque on our teeth. So it is important to make sure you have proper home care and take care of your teeth more diligently than you would when you are not pregnant. Make sure you have a good toothbrush – the Oral B toothbrushes work well to remove the plaque, as well as good flossing techniques. If you have any questions, you can watch some of our other videos about how to brush and how to floss properly. Thanks and good luck with your new baby.
